US national champion Ajay Arora to vie for third consecutive title at September 8-10 event in Frederick, Maryland

Over 100 of world’s top players will be competing for the coveted title and thousands of dollars in prize money in the 2023 US Open Carrom Championship from Sep 8 to 10 in Frederick Maryland.

The United States Carrom Association (USCA) will conduct the event organized by Lakmithuro Carrom Association, USCA’s Maryland chapter, at the Hampton Inn, 5311 Buckeystown Pike, Frederick, MD, according to a media release.

This year’s edition is expected to have a particularly strong playing field, with some of the biggest names of the sport on the roster, such as 3-time world champion Yogesh Pardeshi and current women’s world champion Rashmi Kumari (both of India), and celebrated international player Chamil Cooray of Netherlands, to name a few.

Reigning US national champion Ajay Arora of Pennsylvania will be looking to bag his third consecutive title, having won the US Nationals and Canadian Open earlier this year.

More than 700 matches will be played in singles and doubles format over the course of three days, and many of the games will be live streamed on USCA’s facebook and youtube channels.

With the deployment of USCA’s newly developed technology platform, followers will be able to stay abreast of the progress of the tournament or track their favorite player, with real time board by board scores for every single match right on their phones.

USCA was founded in 1995, with a mission to introduce, integrate, and nurture the sport of Carrom in the United States and worldwide, according to the release.

It regularly conducts major tournaments such as the US Open Championship, in order to provide a platform to showcase carrom talent from around the world, and help promote the game in the West.
