An Indian American man shot his brother dead and wounded their own mother before running off and fatally shooting himself on a Queens street in New York over the weekend, according to a media report.

The brothers got into a quarrel inside the family’s home on a sleepy block in Richmond Hill around 10:30 pm Saturday, New York Daily News reported citing police sources.

As the spat escalated, the 33-year-old elder brother, identified by police as Karamjit Multani, pulled out a gun and fired off several shots inside the two-story brick row house on 111th St. near 95th Ave., sources were cited as saying.

“We thought it was firecrackers but when the lights started flashing, police sirens and someone’s dog was barking, we kind of just figured someone was shot,” neighbor Alvin Debieen, 63, told the Daily News on Sunday. “It had to be something really serious or he just snapped,” he commented.

The gunman’s 27-year-old brother, Vipanpal Multani, was shot multiple times all over his body and died at the scene, Daily News reported citing police.

Medics took the man’s 52-year-old mother, shot once in the torso, to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition.

Karamjit Multani dashed off to 95th Ave. near 109th St., about two blocks away, where he apparently shot himself in the head on the sidewalk outside a house, police said. Police found the shooter dead on the quiet street with the gun next to his body.

“His body was right there laid out in the open and there was a lot of blood,” an unnamed neighbor was quoted as saying. “There were people outside looking to see what was going on. Everyone was concerned.”

Neighbors on the residential block were left shaken after the domestic violence.

“I never really seen anything like that before,” a neighbor who only identified herself as Gina was quoted as saying. “I lived here many years. It was a little scary.”

“It’s a very sad story,” the woman added. “I pray for the mother. You lose two kids like that, it’s horrible.”
