Giving with glamour: Silk Threads Dallas gala benefits Akanksha
Combining glamour with philanthropy, Akanksha Education Fund, a U.S.-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering students from underserved communities in India, had an “incredibly successful” fundraiser with over 200 attendees.
Akanksha partnered with Silk Threads by Ruby Bhandari for Silk Threads’ 13th Annual Fundraising Gala, “The Regal Radiance” in Dallas on Nov. 1, according to a media release.
Guests were able to mingle during a cocktail reception, and bid on the diverse selection of Silent Auction prizes. They opened their hearts as they heard about Akanksha’s work in education, highlighted by a spoken word piece by Akanksha alum, Shubhashree Sathe, from one of its Pune schools, who now lives in Dallas and works at Goldman Sachs.

AEF Executive Director Sejal Desai thanked Raj and Ruby Bhandari from Silk Threads for their partnership and amazing teamwork, and to Aadhar for their collaboration.
Through this event, Akanksha was able to share our mission and impact to a wider audience in the DFW area, and engage the community in a new way, Desai stated.
Thanking those who supported Akanksha, on the runway, by attending, making a donation, and spreading the word, Desai said they looked forward to more events in the future, “to create more impact in our work to empower youth through education and opportunity.”
