Bow Seat opens Fellowship Grant Program for young leaders

Program aims to empower youth leaders in addressing environmental issues in their communities

Bow Seat, a nonprofit organization that empowers young people to address environmental issues through the arts, is inviting applications for its Fellowship Grant Program.

The program is an incubator for young adults who are developing projects that address environmental challenges in their local communities, according to a press release.

The Fellowship Grant Program provides mentorship and funding of up to $2,500 to new or emerging youth-led programs around the globe.

Projects may be of any duration, as long as they meet the Fellowship goals: to educate the public about an environmental problem, engage others in activities that address the issue, and integrate creative arts and environmental conservation.

According to Linda Cabot, Bow Seat Founder, “Bow Seat’s Fellowship Grant Program is an opportunity for young adults to lead their own environmental projects. By providing crucial funding for initiatives led by students, Bow Seat aims to support and empower young adults who want to make a tangible difference in their communities.”

The for-youth, by-youth program is led by the Future Blue Youth Council, a team of environmental activists and Bow Seat alumni who will act as an added resource to help mentor and guide the Fellowship grantees.

From Ishan Kapur, founder of the Blue Voice campaign conserving marine life, to Satvika Iyer, who is integrating climate-friendly practices in her school district, the Council is composed of a diverse team of young trailblazers, the release said.

Dhruv Bhatt, 2023 Future Blue Youth Council member, points out that “the climate crisis is a child rights crisis. It is a water, education, protection, participation, security, and health crisis!”

Bow Seat Is accepting applications on a rolling basis from young people aged 13-22, including individuals, classes, groups, organizations, or clubs, for projects less than two years old that address any environmental issues. There is no application fee for the program.

This is an opportunity to give a voice to the planet, interact with a community of like-minded peers and supporting adults, and get mentored by the Future Blue Youth Council, the release said.

Bow Seat is inviting those youth leaders who care about environmental issues and want to make a difference in their community to apply for the  Fellowship Grant Program.
