Former President Joe Biden diagnosed with aggressive cancer

Former President Joe Biden recently revealed his cancer diagnosis to the world. Biden, who in early 2025, handed over the keys to the Oval Office to Donald Trump after one term as President has been diagnosed with aggressive and advanced prostate cancer.
According to a statement released by Biden’s office, Biden was diagnosed with “prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone.” The statement noted that while this is a “more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management.”

It is being speculated whether the cancer diagnosis may have been a reason Biden did not contend for a second term as President.
Joe Biden’s cancer diagnosis has significant implications for the U.S., both personally for the president and for broader public health efforts. As the leader of the nation, Biden’s health is a matter of public concern, and his diagnosis, though treatable, has sparked discussions about the health of older politicians and the potential impacts on leadership. Biden’s commitment to cancer research, may be further emphasized by his personal experience with the disease, fostering increased support for cancer-related programs and funding. His diagnosis also brings attention to the importance of early cancer detection and the need for advancements in treatment options.
Moreover, it may strengthen bipartisan efforts to reduce cancer deaths in the U.S. over the coming decades, as well as highlight the importance of healthcare access and innovation. In essence, Biden’s health could drive meaningful policy discussions and action surrounding cancer and healthcare reform.
Trump on Sunday posted on social media that he and first lady Melania Trump are “saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis.”
“We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery,” Mr. Trump’s post continued.
