 Indian American woman charged with DWI crash Injuring 5

 

21-year-old Dilmeet Kaur herself suffered injuries in the car crash in the New Hyde Park area of New York City.

An Indian American woman from New York is facing a DWI (driving with influence) charge after she was involved in a car crash that injured five people including herself. The incident took place in the New Hyde Park area of the city.

According to reports, a woman named Dilmeet Kaur who is from the Floral Park area in New York was driving a 2019 BMW X3. She was involved in a collision with a 2004 Nissan SUV being operated by another 34-year-old female.

The collision happened when Kaur in her BMW was traveling northbound on Lakeville Road. Her car struck the Nissan SUV that was heading southbound on Lakeville Road.

The two women in the Nissan were trapped inside and sustained multiple injuries. They then had to be freed from their vehicle with the help of police and firefighters, Nassau County Police Medics, New Hyde Park Fire Department, and the Manhasset Fire Department.

Officers were able to safely remove the two occupants and transport them to local area hospitals for treatment of their injuries.

The driver of the BMW, Dilmeet Kaur herself suffered injuries in her arm and a broken hand. The passengers in the BMW, which Dilmeet was driving were treated for a lower left leg compound fracture and a fractured femur in the right leg.

The BMW contained three occupants, all of whom were also transported to local area hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.

The driver of BMW, Kaur was arrested and charged with second-degree vehicular assault, second-degree assault, third-degree assault and driving while intoxicated.

Kaur was arraigned on May 17 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
