Indian embassy’s ‘MARG’ connects Indian students with US faculty
Indian Embassy in Washington DC has launched a unique virtual mentoring series called ‘MARG’ providing a pathway to connect students and researchers from Indian universities with Indian and Indian origin faculty at renowned US universities.
Launched in coordination with the Ministry of Education of India, and University Grants Commission of India, Mentoring for Academic Excellence and Research Guidance (MARG), aims to connect students of Indian Universities, especially those in the smaller cities and towns of India with the top US universities.
“The objective is to give Indian students and researchers exposure to the latest developments in their fields of study as well as knowledge, career, skilling and research opportunities from the relevant experts across the US,” the embassy stated in a press release.
Indian origin faculty from renowned US universities like Stanford, Purdue, University of Maryland, George Mason University are participating in the first round of this series.
In the inaugural session of the series, Deputy Chief of Mission Sripriya Ranganathan highlighted the expanding academic, research, skilling and industrial ecosystem in India in the areas of critical and emerging technology.
These include semiconductors, AI & ML, High Performance Computing, Quantum Science &Technology, Bioengineering, Clean Energy, Advanced Materials, which are also sectors of deepening academic-research-technology partnership between India and the US, driven by the leadership of both countries.
Vice Chancellors and Directors of participating Indian Universities expressed the belief that these sessions would benefit the students as well as faculty involved in teaching, skilling and research in these areas of critical and emerging technology, according to the release.
The Embassy thanked the Indian diaspora professors in the US for their partnership in this quest and seeks to expand academic linkages between India & the US further with their active involvement and support.
