Announcing his candidacy in a media release, Nagendra, 53, a Folsom resident and community leader, said he was committed to fostering a thriving, inclusive, and safe community for all Folsom residents.

“I am thrilled to announce my candidacy for Folsom City Council District 3,” said Nagendra. “With a career dedicated to serving others, leading diverse teams to solving complex problems and making critical decisions, I bring a wealth of experience to the Council. “Folsom is a city with tremendous potential and a rich heritage,” Nagendra added. “My vision is to build on our strengths, a thriving Folsom for families, businesses, and diverse communities to flourish with everyone feeling safe, included, and valued. With your support, we can continue to make Folsom a place where families and businesses thrive.”

Born and raised in Bangalore, India, Nagendra moved to the United States in 2000 at the age of 29 “bringing with me a rich cultural heritage and a deep commitment to community values.”

Nagendra’s impressive career spans over 35 years of leadership in the community, corporate and public sectors, according to the release. It includes experience gained through working for a small startup to a fortune 100 company, and as a successful entrepreneur having built an engineering solutions company focused on providing control and automation solutions.

Under his leadership, his team has successfully delivered automation and control solutions to complex problems faced by industries such as water, wastewater, hydropower generation, manufacturing, and building automation, the release stated.

In addition to his professional achievements, Nagendra has actively contributed to local governance and community boards, including volunteering for organizations that address the needs of Folsom residents and cultural groups.

His service on the City of Davis and Sacramento County commission and boards have strengthened his understanding of business and economic development, planning, budget, public safety, resource management, and the importance of community engagement in decision-making that has a public policy impact, according to the release.

Nagendra’s leadership has earned him accolades in the corporate world, where he has consistently delivered results by managing large-scale teams, fostering innovation, and navigating complex systems with efficiency. His track record includes driving solutions that balance growth with sustainability—an approach he is eager to apply to the governance of Folsom.

As a long-time advocate for cultural inclusivity, Nagendra has made notable contributions to the local communities. His platform includes strengthening public safety, fostering economic growth, supporting small businesses, and ensuring equitable opportunities for all residents.
