Narasimha Reddy named Regents Professor at Texas A&M University
Indian Institute of Technology alum is one of five faculty members to get the university’s highest honor for their contributions to the university and Texas community

Narasimha Reddy, an Indian Institute of Technology-educated professor, is one of five faculty members from the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University selected for the prestigious Regents Professor Awards.
Reddy, professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering and the Truchard Foundation Chair Professor, will join an esteemed group, becoming part of the 323 Texas A&M System faculty recognized with the award established in 1996.
The highest honor a faculty member can receive in the Texas A&M University System, the awards recognize employees who have made preeminent contributions to their university or agency and Texas community.
“These faculty exemplify the incredible talent in the College of Engineering,” said Dr. Robert Bishop, dean of the Texas A&M College of Engineering. “We are grateful for the contributions of these exceptional faculty and all they do to advance the work of Texas A&M throughout Texas.”
Reddy is recognized for his expertise in computer networks, storage systems, multimedia systems, and computer architecture. His career has been marked by numerous accolades, including being named an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Fellow and receiving the National Science Foundation Career Award.
His teaching excellence has also been recognized with multiple awards, such as the Achievement Award for Teaching from the Texas A&M Former Students Association and Outstanding Professor honors from the IEEE Student Branch and the Department of Electrical Engineering.
Reddy graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology with a BTech in Electronics and Electrical Communications Engineering, where he was awarded the Presidential Silver Medal. He later earned an MS (1987) and a PhD (1990) in Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
