Nishanth Rodrigues named University of Oklahoma CIO
The University of Oklahoma has named Indian American IT strategist Nishanth Rodrigues as the new Chief Information Officer. Rodrigues will begin his duties on Sep 30.
Rodrigues brings 20 years of experience in strategic information technology (IT) leadership, administrative leadership and IT roles in health care, according to a university press release.
Recently, Rodrigues served as the CIO at the University of Mississippi since 2017, where he led several major IT initiatives, including the construction of a new data center to enhance research capacity and academic services.

Prior to his time at Ole Miss, Rodrigues served as the Assistant Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Michigan State University from 2015 to 2017. He also served as the director of IT and chief information security officer at Bronson Healthcare.
Rodrigues brings affiliations and connections with the Cisco Higher Education Advisory Council, the Satisfactory Academic Progress Higher Education Research Advisory Council, and the CIO Visions Steering Committee.
He earned his EdD in Education from the University of Mississippi after earning a Master of Business Administration from Michigan State University. Rodrigues earned his undergraduate degree from Davenport University with a Bachelor of Applied Science.
In an email sent to OU faculty and staff, OU Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Matt Brockwell wrote, “We are confident that his focused, forward-looking vision will be transformative to not only OU IT, but also to the collective advancement of our university.”

Rodrigues will be taking over from interim Chief Information Officer Chris Kobza.
