RoundGlass Foundation extends aid to flood-stricken Punjab
RoundGlass Foundation, founded by Indian American entrepreneur and philanthropist Sunny Gurpreet Singh, is delivering essential supplies to individuals stranded in flood-affected regions of Punjab.
Floods caused by three days of incessant rainfall have caused widespread destruction and damage to life, property and livelihood in the northern state. According to government data, 11 people lost their lives due to floods and 1,058 villages in 14 districts have been impacted the most. Thousands of houses and acres of cropland have been submerged, roads and bridges damaged, and power and water supplies disrupted.
On Wednesday, RoundGlass Foundation, based in Mohali, Punjab, distributed 1,000 care and survival packages (each package contains drinking water and essential food items) in hardest-hit villages in Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, Ropar and SAS Nagar districts, and many more are being distributed every hour. An estimated 650,000 people have been impacted by floods in these four districts.
With the state in dire need of relief work, many private organizations have joined government agencies in providing relief efforts to ensure that those impacted by floods receive help.

“Our complete focus right now is to reach out to all those affected by floods in these areas by distributing our care and survival packages so that their immediate needs of clean food and water are met,” said Vishal Chowla, Leader, RoundGlass Foundation, elaborating on relief efforts. “RoundGlass Foundation stands with Punjab in its hour of need. In the past five years of RoundGlass Foundation working for Punjab, the people of Punjab have supported it the most RoundGlass Foundation has received unwavering support from the people, local administration and the government. The people of Punjab are our biggest champions. Today in their hour of crisis, we stand by them. RoundGlass Foundation is ready to help Punjab get back to its feet and we urge others to join in and contribute in any way they can.”
RoundGlass Foundation has impacted more than 1.7 million lives in 1,800 villages in Punjab through its work in environment, waste management, children’s education, sports development, and women’s empowerment.
“The RoundGlass Foundation team is working tirelessly to assess the damage and provide essential aid,” RoundGlass Founder Sunny Gurpreet Singh added. “We are making sure that help reaches those hit hardest by the floods. To amplify its relief work, RoundGlass Foundation has also set up a Whatsapp helpline (62805-69967), where anyone in distress can message for help. These messages are relayed to flood control rooms being run by the police.
On Wednesday, RoundGlass Foundation also distributed safety gear such as gumboots and raincoats among police personnel involved in rescue and relief work. It is also raising money to continue carrying out relief work in the most-affected areas of Punjab.
Its network of Changemakers in flood-affected villages is also carrying out a detailed estimation of the damage caused by the floods. They are identifying immediate challenges, such as connectivity and damage to crops and houses, and sharing them with the team in Mohali. The Foundation has also prepared a flood advisory that suggests dos and don’ts that should be followed in such a crisis and is sharing it on its social media channels.
