The American Journey: Dr. Dinesh Patel, the ‘Godfather of Utah’s Medtech industry’

 

In this episode of American Journey features Dinesh C. Patel, an Indian American entrepreneur and philanthropist who arrived in the United States as a student in 1973. After completing his Ph.D. at the University of Michigan’s School of Pharmacy and gaining experience working for two major pharmaceutical companies, Dinesh embarked on his entrepreneurial journey. In 1985, he founded his own company at the University of Utah. When Theratech went public in 1992, Dinesh became one of the first Indian Americans to take a company public.

Following his tenure at Theratech, Dinesh ventured into venture capital, establishing V-Spring Capital in 1999. Today, he is one of Utah’s most prominent angel investors, contributing significantly to the state’s entrepreneurial landscape. He is widely recognized as one of the pioneers of therapeutics and pharmaceutical development in the state of Utah.
