Vance slams racial attacks against Indian American wife Usha
Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance has slammed white supremacist attacks his Indian American wife, Usha Vance, has faced since he was tapped by former President Donald Trump as his running mate last month.
“Look, my attitude to these people attacking my wife is, she’s beautiful, she’s smart. What kind of man marries Usha? A very smart man and a very lucky man, importantly,” Vance said Sunday on ABC News’s “This Week.”
“And my view is, look, if these guys want to attack me or attack my views, my policy views, my personality, come after me. But don’t attack my wife. She’s out of your league.”
This comes weeks after prominent white supremacist Nick Fuentes went after Ohio senator Vance and his wife for her Indian heritage following her husband’s nomination to the Republican ticket, the Hill reported.

“Who is this guy, really? Do we really expect that the guy who has an Indian wife and named their kid Vivek is going to support white identity?” Fuentes said last month.
“This Week” co-anchor Jonathan Karl noted Fuentes dined with Trump at Mar-a-Lago in 2022. Trump claimed Fuentes was brought by rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, and that he did not know who Fuentes was.
“Well, Donald Trump doesn’t know anything about, and frankly, doesn’t care for [Fuentes],” Vance responded. “The one thing I like about Donald Trump, Jon, is that he actually will talk to anybody. But just because you talk to somebody doesn’t mean you endorse their views.
“And look, I mean, Donald Trump’s spent a lot of quality time with my wife. Every time he sees her, he gives her a hug, tells us she’s beautiful, and jokes around with her a little bit,” Vance continued.
“I’m not at all worried about Donald Trump,” he added. “I’m worried sometimes about these ridiculous attacks. But again, this is what you sign up for when you come into politics. I wish people would keep it focused on me, but whatever. They’re going to say what they’re going to say. My wife’s tough enough to handle it, and that’s a good thing.”
Vance also told CBS News he “disavows” Fuentes, while arguing the best response to attacks against his wife is to “ignore” them.
Asked about Fuentes’ comments on CBS News’ “Face the Nation,” Vance said they “don’t have any room in the MAGA movement.”

“And of course — and of course Donald Trump has criticized this person. Look, I think the guy’s a total loser. Certainly, I disavow him. But if you ask me what I care more about, is it a person attacking me personally, or is it government policy that discriminates based on race? That’s what I really worry about,” Vance continued, “is bad government policy that harms people based on their immutable characteristics. Look, a lot of losers are going to attack me and attack my family.”
“I think the proper response to them is to ignore them. Don’t feed the trolls, and they largely go away,” he added.
While he did not initially condemn the comments, Vance acknowledged the white supremacist attacks against his wife last month.
“Look, I love my wife so much. I love her because she’s who she is,” he told host Megyn Kelly on her show last month. “Obviously, she’s not a white person, and we’ve been accused, attacked by some white supremacists over that. But I just, I love Usha.”
“She’s such a good mom,” Vance added of his wife. “She’s such a brilliant lawyer, and I’m so proud of her. But yes, her experience has given me some perspective on the way in which it’s really hard for working families in this country.”
Meanwhile, Usha Vance has finally answered the question on everyone’s minds: Is JD Vance wearing guyliner? Photos of the 40-year-old senator show smoldering cerulean eyes that appear to pop off his face in a way that few people are able to achieve naturally.
“They’re all natural,” Usha Vance, told Puck News in a statement cited by The Daily Beast . “I’ve always been jealous of those lashes.”
