The 19-year-old Nazi admirer’s plan was to ‘seize power’ from the federal government

Indian American Sai Varshith Kandula drove a rented U-Haul truck into security barriers near Lafayette Square, in close proximity to the White House. Law enforcement officials found a Nazi swastika flag inside the vehicle.

According to official charges, Kandula confessed to the Secret Service that he had taken a one-way flight from St. Louis on the night of the incident with the intention to “get to the White House, seize power, and assume control of the nation.” When questioned about his methods, he chillingly stated that he would “kill the President if that’s what I have to do and would harm anyone who stood in my way,” as reported by the New York Post.

When questioned about the flag, Kandula revealed that he had acquired it through an online purchase, citing his fascination with the historical significance of the Nazis. He reportedly expressed admiration for their “authoritarian nature, eugenics, and their vision of a one-world order.” Additionally, Kandula identified Hitler as a “strong leader” whom he admires.

Prosecutors told the court Kandula is not a US citizen, according to Fox News.

According to his LinkedIn page, Kandula is interested in pursuing a career in data analytics and states that he has been actively looking for job opportunities.

His LinkedIn bio says, “I currently do not have any job experience, since this is why I am actively searching for jobs in order for me to apply my skills when I do get a job in order to build experience in a company, although I learned, and taken multiple credential courses about programming, and coding languages for about 5 years which is the kind of experience I would say I have had besides a job experience.”

No interactions with Kandula or calls to the family home have been recorded by Chesterfield police.

Aniket Sharma, who went to high school with Kandula, told The Post that in light of the allegations, he was concerned for his former classmate’s mental state.
