Hirsh Vardhan Singh becomes third Indian American to enter presidential race
New Jersey Republican Hirsh Vardhan Singh has become the third Indian American to enter the presidential race.
“Today, I am here to announce my intention to seek the Republican nomination for President of the United States,” he said in a video message posted on his Twitter account.
Introducing himself as a candidate, Singh said he’s “a life-long Republican and an America-first… and pro-life conservative” representing the conservative wing of New Jersey’s Republican party.

Right off the gate, the candidate offered red meat to the nation’s conservative electorate.
“Today, Americans face a grave threat from the corruption of both Big Tech and Big Pharma, which have attacked our freedoms,” Singh said. “While Big Pharma has made massive profits working with government to compel everyone to take the experimental vaccines, Big Tech has become the Big Brother, who invades our privacy and indulged in censorship of our political and contrarian viewpoints.”
Singh accused Bolsheviks of endangering our children having taken “over our schools and are imposing and their religion, an extreme ideology.” He said, “Schools which were once places of learning have become centers of indoctrination targeting and permanently damaging the most vulnerable members of our society.”
He said that America needs “strong leadership to reverse the changes that have occurred in the past few years and restore American values. That is why I have decided to seek the Republican party’s nomination for the 2024 election for the office of the President of the United States.”
The other two candidates in the GOP primary are former South Carolina governor and former US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley and pharmaceutical entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.
Like Ramaswamy, Singh is also a big supporter of former President Donald J. Trump.
“I am a MAGA American and I’m not apologizing for it,” he tweeted last September. MAGA refers to the Make America Great Again movement championed by Trump.

This is the fourth time Singh, a defense and aerospace industry executive, is vying for public office. In 2020, he ran unsuccessfully for the US Senate.
Two years earlier, he lost in the primary for New Jersey’s second congressional district. In 2017, he finished third in the Republican primary for the governor.
Singh is a New Jersey Institute of Technology graduate with a degree in engineering. He has worked with a number of government organizations, including NASA, the Department of Homeland Security, the Federal Aviation Administration, the Pentagon, and the US military.
