Los Angeles: The 22nd annual Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles kicked off on Thursday, June 27, 2024, and ran through June 30, 2024, with opening and closing galas held at the Writer’s Guild Theater and films screened at a combination of places like the Writer’s Guild, the Landmark Theater on Sunset, and the Egyptian Theater in Los Angeles.

This year’s festival featured the first ever ‘Industry Day’ with a pitch competition in which the winner took home $10,000. Films hailed from South Asian filmmakers around the world from India, the United States, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and more.

The festival also featured a fireside chat with Executive Producer Y. Shireen Razack, a flashmob, and several Q&A’s with filmmakers.

Reporter Chhaya Nene spoke with filmmakers and audience members about what they were most excited about for the festival as well as their respective journeys in creating their films. Don’t miss what the filmmakers had to say about the opening night.
